Production: results for February 2026

 

Manufacturing production decreased by 2,8% in February 2026 compared with February 2025. The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

·         food and beverages (-4,5% and contributing -1,1 percentage points);

·         wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (-9,7% and contributing -1,0 percentage point); and

·         basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-3,6% and contributing -0,8 of a percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 2,2% in February 2026 compared with January 2026. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,9% in January 2026 and -1,4% in December 2025.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 2,0% in the three months ended February 2026 compared with the previous three months. Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period. The following divisions reported the largest negative contributions:

·         basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-3,9% and contributing -0,9 of a percentage point);

·         food and beverages (-2,5% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point); and

·         motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-5,2% and contributing -0,4 of a percentage point).

 

 

Sales: results for February 2026

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 0,3% in February 2026 compared with January 2026. This followed month-on-month changes of 3,0% in January 2026 and -4,4% in December 2025.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales decreased by 3,1% in the three months ended February 2026 compared with the previous three months. The largest negative contributions were made by the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division (-17,1% and contributing -2,6 percentage points) and the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (-3,6% and contributing -0,8 of a percentage point).
