Production: results for April 2025

 

Manufacturing production decreased by 6,3% in April 2025 compared with April 2024. The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

·         food and beverages (-7,6% and contributing -1,8 percentage points);

·         basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-6,3% and contributing -1,4 percentage points);

·         motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-13,0% and contributing -1,2 percentage points); and

·         petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (-4,7% and contributing -1,0 percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 1,9% in April 2025 compared with March 2025. This followed month-on-month changes of -2,5% in March 2025 and 0,0% in February 2025.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 1,4% in the three months ended April 2025 compared with the previous three months. Seven of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period. The largest negative contributions were reported for the food and beverages division (-2,5% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point) and the furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing division (-8,9% and contributing -0,4 of a percentage point).

 

 

Sales: results for April 2025

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales decreased by 0,7% in April 2025 compared with March 2025. This followed month-on-month changes of -0,4% in March 2025 and 0,0% in February 2025.

 

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales decreased by 0,3% in the three months ended April 2025 compared with the previous three months. The largest negative contribution was made by the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (‑3,3% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point). The largest positive contribution was reported for the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division (6,5% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).
