Production: results for December 2024

Manufacturing production decreased by 1,2% in December 2024 compared with December 2023. The largest negative contributions were made by the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (-6,0% and contributing -1,2 percentage points) and the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division (-20,8% and contributing -1,2 percentage points).

The largest positive contribution was made by the food and beverages division (5,8% and contributing 1,7 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 2,4% in December 2024 compared with November 2024. This followed month-on-month changes of -1,3% in November 2024 and 1,3% in October 2024.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 0,8% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared with the third quarter of 2024. Six of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period. The largest negative contributions were reported for the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (-2,7% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point) and the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division (-2,5% and contributing -0,2 of a percentage point).

In 2024, total manufacturing production decreased by 0,4% compared with 2023. The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (-13,3% and contributing -1,2 percentage points); and

·        basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-2,9% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point).

The largest positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

·        food and beverages (3,7% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point); and

·        petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (2,6% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point).

Sales: results for December 2024

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales increased by 1,4% in December 2024 compared with November 2024. This followed month-on-month changes of -2,9% in November 2024 and 2,8% in October 2024.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing sales decreased by 0,4% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared with the third quarter of 2024. The largest negative contributions were made by the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (-2,6% and contributing -0,5 of a percentage point) and the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (‑2,0% and contributing -0,4 of a percentage point). The largest positive contribution was made by the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division (3,1% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point).
