Production: results for October 2025

 

Mining production increased by 5,8% year-on-year in October 2025. The largest positive contributors were:

·         iron ore (24,8% and contributing 2,9 percentage points);

·         PGMs (3,9% and contributing 1,1 percentage points);

·         manganese ore (15,1% and contributing 1,0 percentage point); and

·         chromium ore (14,1% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point).

 

Seasonally adjusted mining production increased by 2,1% in October 2025 compared with September 2025. This followed month-on-month changes of 2,6% in September 2025 and -1,0% in August 2025.

 

Seasonally adjusted mining production increased by 2,3% in the three months ended October 2025 compared with the previous three months. The largest positive contributors were:

·         PGMs (4,1% and contributing 1,1 percentage points);

·         iron ore (3,2% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point); and

·         manganese ore (5,7% and contributing 0,4 of a percentage point).

 

 

Mineral sales: results for October 2025

 

Mineral sales at current prices increased by 13,3% year-on-year in October 2025. The largest positive contributors were:

·         PGMs (50,6% and contributing 11,2 percentage points);

·         chromium ore (26,6% and contributing 2,0 percentage points); and

·         gold (4,6% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).

 

The largest negative contributor was coal (-6,4% and contributing -1,6 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted mineral sales at current prices decreased by 1,0% in October 2025 compared with September 2025. This followed month-on-month changes of 8,1% in September 2025 and -2,8% in August 2025.

 

Seasonally adjusted mineral sales at current prices increased by 6,6% in the three months ended October 2025 compared with the previous three months.
