In March 2026, 3 037 756 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 723 364 South African residents and 2 314 392 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 1 200 534 were made up of 28 794 non-visitors and 1 171 740 visitors. The visitors consisted of 259 778 same-day visitors and 911 962 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows 223 641 from overseas; 670 498 from SADC countries; 16 827 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 996 tourists was classified as unspecified.
