In August 2025, 3 212 478 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 787 969 South African residents and 2 424 509 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 1 263 873 were made up of 27 648 non-visitors and 1 236 225 visitors. The visitors consisted of 300 487 same-day visitors and 935 738 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of tourists by region is as follows 193 135 from overseas; 724 406 from SADC countries; 17 332 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 865 tourists were classified as unspecified.
