In June 2025, 2 734 444 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 767 016 South African residents and 1 967 428 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 1 040 785 were made up of 24 543 non-visitors and 1 016 242 visitors. The visitors consisted of 266 065 same-day visitors and 750 177 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of tourists by region is as follows 142 068 from overseas; 592 995 from SADC countries; 14 129 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 985 tourists were classified as unspecified.
