Key findings: P5041.1 - Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions, November 2020

The value of recorded building plans passed (at current prices) decreased by 34,5% (-R35 356,8 million) during January to November 2020 compared with January to November 2019. Decreases were recorded for non-residential buildings (-35,4% or -R7 652,3 million), residential buildings (-34,3% or ‑R18 109,6 million) and additions and alterations (-33,9% or -R9 594,8 million).

The value of buildings reported as completed (at current prices) decreased by 47,7% (-R39 579,5 million) during January to November 2020 compared with January to November 2019. Decreases were recorded for residential buildings (-55,2% or -R27 352,7 million), non-residential buildings (-43,2% or ‑R9 170,7 million) and additions and alterations (-25,0% or -R3 056,1 million).
