Utilisation of production capacity by large enterprises for May 2018 as published on 2 August 2018

The utilisation of production capacity by large manufacturers was 80,6% in May 2018 compared with 80,8% in May 2017, a decrease of 0,2 of a percentage point.

Six of the ten manufacturing divisions showed decreases in utilisation of production capacity in May 2018 compared with May 2017. Decreases were recorded in the following divisions:

  • radio, television and communication apparatus and professional equipment (-4,3 percentage points);
  • furniture and 'other' manufacturing (-2,6 percentage points);
  • food and beverages (-1,4 percentage points);
  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (-1,3 percentage points);
  • electrical machinery (-0,9 of a percentage point); and
  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (-0,8 of a percentage point).

The following divisions recorded rates of utilisation of production capacity above 80% in May 2018:

  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (84,0%);
  • wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing (82,5%);
  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (82,5%);
  • radio, television and communication apparatus and professional equipment (82,1%);
  • food and beverages (81,1%); and
  • glass and non-metallic mineral products (80,5%).
